Great Fire of Newcastle workshops at Discovery Museum

On 6th October 2022, 2G took part in a series of workshops at the Discovery Museum.

What a great day to do this - the 168th anniversary of the event!

We enjoyed a walk through Autumnal streets where we collected conkers and Autumn leaves.  We spotted some recent buildings built with modern materials such as steel, glass and brick, and we spotted some older buildings made of stone.  We were interested to see a mix of tarmac and cobbles in the local streets.

Once at the Discovery Museum, we took part in a range of workshops about the Great Fire of 1854 including a puppet show, a sensory exploration of the historic event, and time to investigate some victorian artefacts.
