Rapid Recall

It is important to learn and memorise multiplication tables as these are building blocks for other areas of maths such as division, long multiplication, fractions and area. Learning to rapidly recall multiplication tables makes these other areas of maths much easier to access and helps children work at the level expected. 

Knowing your multiplication facts is helpful not only in school; we often use multiplication in our daily lives. We might need it when doubling a recipe or working out a discount at a shop etc. Knowing the multiplication tables can help simple tasks to be performed rapidly and save time and stress.
